$ 0 0 BJP general secretary AmitShah has been declared as the new BJP president on Wednesday.Home minister Rajnath Singh announced in a news conference that he was stepping down as the BJP president and declared Shah as his successor.Senior party leaders, in consultation with RSS leadership, had cleared Shah's name as Singh's replacement.Shah's no-nonsense style of functioning - which includes doing a thorough homework before meetings to ensure that he has his way - has won several admirers within the BJP and the RSS. Within the party, his detractors have fallen silent after the BJP won an unprecedented number of Lok Sabha seats in UP.Shah's name for the post was in doubt initially considering the cases against him that dates back to his stint as the minister of state (home) while Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat. Party insiders are confident that Shah will get a clean chit from the special CBI court in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh, Kausar Bi and Tulsi Prajapati fake encounter case.
